During the school year, 826NYC offers homework help and writing instruction for students 6 to 18. Tutors assist with homework in every subject and lead students in writing and reading-based enrichment activities.
As it is not feasible for all students to come to us, every year we dispatch teams of volunteers into local schools. In the classroom, volunteers provide one-on-one assistance to students for a variety of writing projects.
Launched in the fall of 2016, 826NYC is operating a full-time Writers’ Room at Samuel Stern MS 7/Global Tech Prep in East Harlem. Sixth, seventh, and eighth gradersreceive individualized attention on writing projects.
We offer free evening and weekend writing-based workshops designed to foster creativity, strengthen writing skills, and provide students with a forum for executing projects they might not otherwise have the support to undertake.
During the school year, 826NYC hosts school groups of up to 30 students for interactive writing field trips. We invite teachers to choose from three different trips, each designed to cater to students in a specific range of grade levels.
826NYC invites seniors from NYC Public high schools to its annual 826NYC Personal Statement Weekend each October.
