A Message in the Ground

This book is a collection of memoir and short fiction written by 826NYC students in the East Harlem Writers’ Room. Seventh graders at PS/MS 7 came to the program each week throughout the year; guided by their imaginations and our volunteer writing mentors, they explored new and familiar worlds through writing. From fighting zombies with President Obama to a story about a young girl stuck in 1908, from visiting your parents’ homelands to a heartbreaking meditation on grief, you’ll find it all in A Message in the Ground. In your hands is the culmination of these young authors’ hard work and the best of their writing. Thanks for reading.
