From Songs to Stories: Putting Plots to Music
From ABBA to Ziggy Stardust, the best in the business know how to make their stories into song. In this workshop, students will write their own emotional ballad, lyrical rap, or rockin’ country song for the ages. Exploring the songwriting craft of greats like Taylor Swift and Stephen Sondheim will inspire our authors as they turn narratives into music. By the end, students will have a unique playlist of original songs written by their classmates. Worthy of the Top 100, you’ll want to play this mixtape on repeat.
About Write Away Workshops
We know that young authors have the power and imagination to go beyond the five-paragraph essay. In Write Away Workshops, students explore a multitude of genres and subjects, and develop their voices as writers. Groups write freely and participate in imaginative writing activities and lessons. Young writers leave each workshop with a piece to be proud of, as well as a newfound understanding of the topic and new friends.
