We’re excited to introduce you to our February Author of the Month, Dallas M.!
What is your favorite thing you’ve written recently? Tell us a bit about it!
My favorite thing is my Subway Surfer book that I made a long time ago. I thought it was cool and I put my mind to it!
In the story a guy named Jake does cool things like go to the skate park. His mom took him home when he was at the pizza place with his friends. He has a skateboard. Sometimes he leaves sandwiches in his room, and he has a little fridge so they don’t go bad. And he has a hat.
What are three words you would use to describe 826NYC?
One of the words is pretty awesome. It makes me feel happy when I’m down. And it’s fun.
If someone was considering joining 826NYC, what would you tell them?
I would say, my after-school has many fun things. We can read books, we have a book club and a writing club, and you can be the author of the month. And we have snack time! It’s kind of popular.
What advice would you give someone writing for the first time?
If you want to write an original story, you can make a superhero that has a cape or with gloves and has superpowers. I get my ideas from reading comic books that have superheroes like Hercules or Tiger Moth – he’s kind of a cool guy, he’s an insect ninja and was a cowboy one time.
