Development and Communications Manager

The Development and Communications Manager is part of a collaborative team that includes both staff and board that helps fulfill our mission and support our students by securing funding from foundations, corporations, and individuals. In addition, the Development and Communications Manager coordinates the organization’s marketing and communications, collaborating across departments and with the Marketing Committee to ensure that our message and reach is amplified across different channels.

Teaching Artist

826NYC is seeking Teaching Artists to design curriculum and lead in-school and partnership project-based residencies, typically 6 to 12 weeks each. This person should not only be a writer, but also be passionate about literacy education and have experience working with students. This position will be supervised and supported by the 826NYC Director of Education. Teaching Artists will also have the support of trained volunteers, who assist students with their writing during the in-class project sessions and asynchronously. Planning hours/days are somewhat flexible depending on the Teaching Artist’s schedule. The end goal for each in-school and partnership residency is to produce a professionally designed and printed anthology of the students’ writing. The teaching artist will work with 826NYC staff to support the publishing process.

Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. Retail Associate

The Retail Associate assists customers in the store, processes payments, represents 826NYC’s mission, and answers questions about the organization to visitors. The Retail Associate also assists the store manager with product assembly and online orders. The Retail Associate needs to be willing to embrace the ethos of the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. and to help guests embrace and celebrate their inner hero. The Retail Associate reports to the Store & Operations Manager and Executive Director and is expected to work collaboratively with 826NYC and store volunteer
