Write Away Workshops: What’s the Deal with 826NYC?

826NYC Write Away Workshops

What’s the Deal with 826NYC? Theater & Comedy

It’s time to play the music, it’s time to light the lights—it’s time for our young writers to write some jokes tonight!

Have you ever noticed how teachers are always asking us for the answers? In this workshop, we’ll help students shape their funny observations into witty monologues, create comical characters, and write side-splitting scenes. Together we’ll learn about the fundamentals of comedy writing, scene writing, and how to structure a story that leaves us roaring with laughter.

About Write Away Workshops

We know that young authors have the power and imagination to go beyond the five-paragraph essay. In Write Away Workshops, students explore a multitude of genres and subjects, and develop their voices as writers. Groups write freely and participate in imaginative writing activities and lessons. Young writers leave each workshop with a piece to be proud of, as well as a newfound understanding of the topic and new friends.
