In the fall of 2023, 826NYC was lucky enough to return to the High School of Fashion Industries to work with a wonderful group of teenagers — specifically for a creative writing project, but more broadly as one step in the long process of figuring out who they are and who they are going to be. Over the course of seven workshops, students read, wrote, shared, and revised with incredible focus, openness, and creativity.

While the class may not have found definitive answers to those big questions of identity and future paths, the worked hard to explore them in poetry and prose, with staggering honesty and originality. They experimented with all sorts of different genres and took inspiration from writing that inspired them. Inside the Teenage Mind is a result of those explorations.
