October Volunteer of the Month: Christian Rongavilla

News —— October 1, 2022

We’re excited to introduce you to our October Volunteer of the Month, Christian Rongavilla. Christian started his 826 journey as a graphic design intern at 826 Valencia, and joined our volunteer editing cohort in 2021. Christian supported our youngest students last year, and continues to encourage our middle schoolers this school year. Learn more about Christian by reading below:

826NYC: How did you first get involved with 826NYC, and why did you decide to volunteer?

Christian: I was first a graphic design intern at the 826 Valencia in SF when I was in college. I learned a lot of design skills making books and presentations. 10 years later in NYC, I remembered how fun it was at 826, and became a volunteer.

826NYC: What’s your favorite part of 826NYC?

Christian: I enjoy the creative energy from the kids and the break time in the backyard.

826NYC: What do you do when you’re not at 826NYC?

Christian: I’m a freelance art director and creative and working towards a MFA in creative writing.

826NYC: What advice would you give to a new volunteer?

Christian: Be open and curious, get in touch with your inner child.

826NYC: What is your superpower?

Christian: I can slow down time when I often procrastinate. I can nap anytime, anywhere. Zzz
