1. How did you first get involved with 826NYC and why did you decide to volunteer?
I love this question! I took a summer course with NYU last summer in creative writing (The lovely Gail Carson Levine was my professor! Aaaaah!) and before school let out this year I was looking for an internship in which I could work with kids creatively for some extra credit for undergrad so I decided to look on NYU’s internship info page (which Gail directed me to), and that’s how I ended up here, kind of like on a whim! I love working with kids which made this experience even more intriguing!
2. What’s your favorite part of volunteering at 826NYC?
Workshopping with the kiddies! They’re so much fun to work with and they absorb so much! They also have the MOST creative mindsets which I absolutely love love love!!!
3. What do you do when you’re not at 826NYC?
I’m either writing poetry, stressing about life after undergrad (lol), babysitting, singing, dancing (I love that too) or just finding time to spend with friends and family!
4. What advice would you give a new volunteer?
Give everything you take part in here with 826 your all! and have fun!!!
5. What are your superpowers?
Love and Black Girl Magic!
