July Author of the Month: Reign B.

News —— July 8, 2026

We’re excited to introduce you to our July Author of the Month, Reign!

What is your favorite thing you’ve written recently? Tell us a bit about it!

My favorite thing I’ve written recently was my “I Am” poem called Steps of My Life.

I like it because I opened up about myself. It made me feel happy when I read it during our chapbook party. It also made me think about memories from when I was younger. Writing this poem helped me grow as a writer because I don’t usually write poetry, and I discovered that I really enjoy it.

What are three words you would use to describe 826NYC? How would you describe 826NYC?

  • Fun
  • Creative
  • TONY PEPPERONI!!!

If I had to describe 826NYC, I would say it’s amazing. It helps you learn how to write stories and opens you up to new ideas. As soon as your pencil touches the paper, your hand starts dancing and creates a wonderful story. It’s a place where your imagination can really shine

If someone was considering joining 826NYC, what would you tell them?

I would tell them to join! You can write stories that come straight from your imagination, share your writing, read great books, make new friends, and even talk to Tony Pepperoni if you’re feeling down.

If you don’t have an idea, don’t worry. The teachers are always happy to help you find one. They encourage you to think hard, believe in yourself, and let your creativity grow.

What advice would you give someone writing for the first time?

I would tell them to write with their heart and let their imagination lead the way. Write something that is appropriate and that younger kids could enjoy without being scared. And most importantly, have fun! If you want, make your story silly, exciting, and interesting.
