This week, we had the wonderful opportunity to share the work of 826NYC students with the best of New York City’s fashion industry. Hosted at TIWA Gallery, a stellar line-up read out short stories, poems, and prose from our young authors, all themed around fashion, beauty, and style.
Also in attendance was Christopher Barnard, a journalist from The New York Times Style, who wrote a lovely piece about the event. In his piece, he writes: “As guests began trickling into the venue, the scent of cod hush puppies and popcorn chicken was thick in the air. Looming over the occasion were threatened cuts to education from the federal government, which Ms. [Rebecca] Darugar [826NYC Executive Director] told attendees would make the work of organizations like 826NYC more important.”

Thank you to all who worked to make this event so special!
