826NYC is celebrating a year of remarkable transformation and the powerful impact of storytelling with its 2021 Write the Future virtual gala on February 24th. Write the Future will feature readings and performances by 826NYC young authors and friends as we reflect on a year like no other in history.

826NYC will honor Neil Gaiman with the Limitless Possibilities Award and Elizabeth Acevedo with the Write the Future Award. 

“Neil Gaiman’s work has been inspiring young writers of all ages since he first began writing comics in the 1980s,” says Joshua Mandelbaum, 826NYC Executive Director. “Whether it is through American Gods, Sandman, Coraline, or Wolves in the Walls, Neil has shown that when it comes to the imagination there truly are Limitless Possibilities.

“Elizabeth Acevedo’s Poets X and With the Fire High have become a literary beacon for the next generation of young writers. Through her verse and prose, Acevedo is forging new paths for 826NYC young writers to find inspiration and Write their Futures.”
