In celebration of 826NYC’s first Manhattan outpost, our Writers’ Room in East Harlem, 826NYC and Warby Parker are hosting Super Kids, Serious Authors at the Upper East Side Warby Parker store on May 17th! Students’ writing will be read by authors and actors Maura Tierney, Lev Grossman, Chip Kidd, J. Courtney Sullivan, and Kaitlyn Greenidge. Music will be provided by Ghostly and drinks are being supplied by Goose Island and Los Dos.
The reading will be broadcast via Facebook LIVE at 8pm ET. Watch on our Facebook page!
As a sample of what to expect, one of the works Maura Tierney will be reading is the poem Stapler, written by Ivan W., age 11, during After-School Writing and Tutoring at 826NYC:
- A stapler can
- be romantic
- because it can be
- solid gold
- and show
- whoever you
- give it to–
- they
- will know
- that
- you deeply
- care
- for
- Her.
