FILL IN THE BLANK, an 826NYC community writing event, is an opportunity to venture behind the secret door of the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. and delight together in the power and joy of writing. The writing education nonprofit, 826NYC, ignites students’ excitement for writing and encourages them to write their own paths forward, undefined by circumstance. We also foster intergenerational creative spaces, like the Park Slope Secret Library, for volunteers and students to engage in the writing process together.
FILL IN THE BLANK will be an evening designed by and for volunteers––past, present, and future––and other adult members (or fans!) of the 826NYC community to explore writing on their own terms. We will provide writing prompts, student stories to spark the imagination, and a jovial space for writers of all levels.
Bring your favorite writing instrument, a friend (or three!), and a joy of the written and/or spoken word to share! Local establishments will provide light refreshments, and we’ll have all the writing inspiration you’ll need There will also be more than a few special surprises, including a raffle for anyone who brings a new prospective community member.
SUGGESTED DONATION: $10 (No one will be turned away due to lack of funds.)
