When I Tell My Story: Personal Narrative

Each meeting of this five-week personal narrative workshop will be led by a different writer or creative talent, who will give a craft talk and provide a prompt for the day. By the end of the series, participants will have the bones of five personal narrative pieces they can adapt for college or scholarship essays, extended journal entries, or creative nonfiction essays.

About Rebellious Phrase

In this new program for teens in grades 9-12, we’ll explore a different topic or genre in each 5-week workshop. Participants are invited to bring ideas, works-in-progress, and dream projects to develop, as each week we introduce new techniques for writing and editing. Sessions will be led by teaching artists who are working writers and/or guest authors and media-makers.

Registration for this class is now open. The registration form includes questions for the participating student to answer, so parents/guardians should plan to fill out the registration form with their child.

Cost

826NYC is committed to keeping our programs available to the young writers who need our support most. You can choose between the following fee options for Write Away Workshops: full price ($300 per session), partial scholarship ($150 per session), or full scholarship (free). We invite families to select the fee that works best for them upon registration; no additional scholarship application is required.
