We’re excited to introduce you to our May Author of the Month, Elektra M.!
What is your favorite thing you’ve written recently? Tell us a bit about it!
I wrote a purple marker poem. It’s about a purple marker who’s always scribbling and drawing stuff that’s purple.
What are three words you would use to describe 826NYC?
Fun, has lots of different activities, and they have a cool store.
If someone was considering joining 826NYC, what would you tell them?
Well, that’s great! Because you can sit with me. We do Super Sentences – it’s about things you would use to write a sentence.
What advice would you give someone writing for the first time?
To like the story you’re writing about, and make sure you want to write about this story. Think of some ideas and then write out a sloppy copy of it, then write your published version.
Read Elektra’s poem “Orca”, inspired by 826NYC QuaranTEEN Voices guest author Ada Limon here, and discover opportunities for the young writers in your life with our upcoming programs!
