Maps, meals, mysteries, monologues and more — summer writing workshops are a magical mashup of storytelling and fun for students entering grades 4-9 in Fall 2022! Your young author will take their writing from the page to the stage (or to a haunted mansion, outer space, or their favorite bodega) with five exciting weeks to pick and choose from.
826NYC summer programs offer flexibility with in-person workshop, full-day, and Zoom options depending on grade level, as well as full and partial scholarship options!
In July, we’ll create neighborhood food maps and tell tales of all things tasty (Home on a Plate: Writing About Food & NYC), spin stories of mystery and intrigue (The Butler Did It: Mysteries & Whodunits), and envision futures of wonder and whimsy (Worlds of Tomorrow: Sci-Fi & Utopian Fiction). In August, we’re living for the spotlight with an introduction to character creation (Get into Character: Crafting Characters for the Stage) and dialogue and scene-writing (Drama-Rama: Scene Writing), and each week will end with students performing their work on our backyard stage.
