Thank You AT&T for supporting the Young Authors Book Project

News —— January 26, 2016

In about four months, 826NYC will be releasing a book of poetry with the help of a generous $10,000 donation from AT&T. The poems are yet to be written, and the title of the book is yet to be determined. The students of Ms. Eisenberg’s 10th grade ELA classes at the High School of Fashion Industries still have to make all the tough, creative decisions that will go into this book’s publication.

Starting in March, we will be bringing our most ambitious Young Authors Book Project yet to the High School of Fashion Industries. Over the course of March and April, 826NYC staff and volunteers will work with students as they read about, discuss, and write poems dealing with the question, “How do place and space shape identity?” Students will take part in all the steps of the publication process, from writing and editing to publishing and promoting.

An editorial board of students will also work in tandem with a web developer and designer to code and design a promotional website for the final publication. Once the book is bound and published, the website will serve as a place for people to learn about the project and to purchase the book.
